Inspired by the tradition of quilting, the park furniture recycles found and salvaged materials to formulate a new narrative along the waterfront of Long Wharf Park. Each element is unique in appearance. Weaving and working together creates collaborative works of art representing every hand that volunteered. It is the participants´ contribution that brings about the virtue of the park furniture, opposed to budgetary resources.
Strips of recycled plastic bags are hand-woven around used car or truck tires to form a seat, a tabletop or a shading roof. Underneath tables and seating, shredded oyster shells provide a dry, but unsealed surface.
